The Certified Nursing Assistant Program at SDHCI is a 24-day program that consists of theory/classroom and lab/clinical instruction. SDHCI partners with skilled nursing centers to provide the clinical experience. After successful completion of the program, students will take the state certification exam. The exam is a two-part certification. Students will take a written test and skills test. After passing the state certification exam and completion of a criminal background check, the CNA certificate is issued by the California Department of Public Health.
The Professional Certification Branch (PCB), Aide and Technician Certification Section (ATCS) is primarily responsible for the certification of nurse assistants by ensuring applicants adhere to the California Health and Safety Code, Section 1337-1338.5.
